Innovation Martlesham (IM) was delighted that Saurabh Chattopadhyay (Head of Software Engineering, Access Solutions, STL) and Simon Fisher (Principal Architect for Access Networks, BT) were guest speakers at our June 2021 IM Breakfast Webinar, sharing their expertise on the topic of “Next Generation Access Networks”.
During the presentation Saurabh discussed the world-wide trends on the demands of next generation access networks, which included the business drivers and the technological advancements. Simon followed on by highlighting the importance of Standards and interoperability of legacy and next generation networks, and the event concluded with Saurabh expanding on the joint work with BT in the standards bodies and some of the new technologies to emerge. PERSONAL PROFILES
Simon Fisher is Principal Architect for Access Networks in BT with a key focus on the application and opportunity for Disaggregation and Software Defined Networks. Simon started his career in 1987 working for STC and then Nortel designing SDH equipment for the London City Fibre network. He joined BT's Access Network Division in 1989 as a lead engineer developing and launching DSL and Fibre transmission systems. In 2005 he joined Openreach's Chief Engineer department as Principal Architect responsible for end-to-end solutions and the deployment strategy for delivery Broadband and Carrier Class Ethernet to the UK's 32 million customers. Simon studies Electronic Engineering at the University of Liverpool, a Master's Degree in Telecommunications and Switching at University College London, and became a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology in 2012.
Saurabh Chattopadhyay is currently spearheading the Product & Solution Engineering for STL’s Access Solutions portfolio. He has 20+ years of experience, has been driving Telecom-aligned Innovation Centers and Research & Development activities in various technology areas. In his previous role at one of the top 5 Global Engineering Service Providers, he was responsible for developing next-generation engineering strategy to augment software-defined service delivery capabilities for OEMs, Platform Vendors and Service Provider customers. Prior to that, Saurabh had contributed to niche research & development work in two other engineering organizations. He has been contributing to the development of Next Generation Technology Specifications at IETF, ONF and ETSI, invented multiple patents, evangelized value propositions in global forums across diverse technology areas.
Tushar Shah is an accomplished sales professional with a corporate career spanning over 25 years. He has a wealth of experience initially gained as a qualified Engineer (Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology), and latterly a successful Sales Executive at STL. Here, Tushar was aligned to some of the largest clients in EMEA, delivering circa $100M+ of business, repeatedly exceeding his sales quota. Tushar set the benchmark within the team across a number of activities and was often referred to as a role model for the team, with 10 years spent in the major account sales teams. Furthermore, Tushar is certified in the Miller Heiman sales methodology and a qualified sales trainer and mentor to cross functional teams. As a Sales professional, Tushar draws on his wealth and breadth of skills, knowledge and experience in the areas of customer engagement to enable sales teams to enhance their visibility, impact and influence, increasing performance and results within the organisation, and ultimately to stand out as a leader, amongst colleagues and clients, in their teams, organisation and industry! Over the last ten years, Tushar has delivered keynotes, workshops and trainings at various events and organisations both in the UK and abroad, including Huawei, SSE Telecom, BT, Vodafone and University of Hertfordshire.
