If you’ve ever wondered what a technology company does when it isn’t inventing new ways to make online audio more compelling, then look no further than the recent ‘Music by 300 Strangers’ collaborative project organised by http://pianobook.co.uk for Pianoday2020 - the 88th day of 2020.
Sound Extensions founder Martin Russ wrote some custom software to create his submission for this online ‘systems music’ extravaganza produced by over 300 separate musicians from around the world. Each individual contributor worked from a simple set of musical instructions and composed music - without ever hearing anything from any of the other contributors. Martin coded the instructions into software and used that to generate five compositions. You can hear the results here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enFB33SOo6k
