Interact, an Innovation Martlesham member, won big at the Leeds Digital Festival 29th September 2022, beating strong competition to win the Sustainability Award.
The Leeds tech scene is one of the best and fastest growing in Europe. The Leeds Digital Festival has grown from its birth five years’ ago into a significant event spanning almost 2 weeks, celebrating the best coming out of the region’s tech scene. This year there were over 200 entries for the 10 awards.

New startup, big sustainability impact
Since its inception in 2021, startup Interact has placed sustainability and performance at its core. By championing energy efficiency through their advocacy work, and providing scientific solutions with their software, Interact are challenging the data centre and enterprise sectors to lessen their environmental impact.
As a new company, Interact were keen to deliver a sustainability strategy that was rigorous and could be scaled up as the company grew. In September 2022, Interact were awarded three stars for their advocacy work around the UN Sustainable Development Goals (17 global pledges for a better world). Interact have focused on responsible consumption through their ability significantly reduce CO2 emissions for their customers, as well as improving gender equality in the tech world.
More recently, Interact achieved Pending B Corp status, acknowledging the company as ‘a force for good’.
The Leeds Digital Festival Sustainability Award is the latest in a long line of regional, national and international sustainability and tech awards for the pioneering technology that has so impressed the industry. Since 2021, Interact and its team members have been awarded 10 awards in under 2 years and are hoping for further awards success in October.
