Tori Burns has over 25 years’ experience leading Business Risk and Compliance in a variety of industries across the UK and New Zealand. Tori’s innovative approach and strong focus on sustainability has led her to win awards in New Zealand.
Tori supports businesses in their sustainability journey along with other compliance requirements, including relevant ISO certifications to create efficiencies, innovate and advance.
Tori started her career in Local Government, leading and developing Risk Based Audit Programmes across a vast array of sectors, specialising in IT audit in line with International Standards. After a brief stint teaching accounting in China and travelling through Asia she worked for Deloitte, New Zealand consulting on Enterprise Risk Management for a number of high-profile companies before moving out to the Industries and Not for Profit organisations. Here she developed structures for Risk, Compliance, Audit and Fraud, identifying best practice, creating efficiencies and streamlining processes along the way.
Over the past 6 years Tori has increasingly focused on sustainability initiatives particularly around the more strategic elements of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). Recently returning to Suffolk, and in light of the impending UK sustainability standards, Tori has set up Advance Business Consultants to simplify sustainability for businesses navigating their own journeys and compliance requirements.
